Park Santiago 4th of July Parade, 3pm start, 2:30 Check-I at Lawn Bowling Center.

Thank you to Nichole Doughty and Mel Steiner of the Nichole Doughty Group for being our Official Sponsor of the Park Santiago Annual 4th of July Parade.

Looking forward to seeing all our neighbors participate in the parade with their awesome decorated bikes, strollers, costumes and floats.

We had over 350 neighbors participate last year, let’s set a new record this year!

We are planning to have great gift cards for prizes as well as cookies & refreshments for all the kids !

Parade will start at 3 PM, with check-in beginning at 2:30 at the Lawn bowling center on the 4th!

Nov. 4 PSNA Election Meeting to Feature Vector Control

The November 4th Park Santiago Neighborhood Association meeting will feature a representative from OC Vector Control who will discuss options for dealing with fire ants and mosquitos in our neighborhood. This will also be our election meeting.

Positions one can run for in PSNA include president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, or one of twelve quadrant representative positions. Those who serve must be available to attend PSNA meetings the first Wednesday of the month, typically six times per year. ·      Traffic – Peggy W. reported that the last TC meeting didn’t go well. Holly R. said she continues to be concerned about traffic on Santa Clara. Both women said police are out regularly monitoring that part of the neighborhood and issuing tickets. Peggy said Kathy and the traffic engineering dept. have the survey results. A suggestion was made that the survey results be posted in the next newsletter. John Joseph Miranda—Holly’s husband—agreed to co-chair the traffic committee with her. *
·      Community Watch – Rick M. will work with the old CW
·      Communications, including e-news, Newsletter, and Website
·      Hoover linkage – Bobbie  
·      Hospitality (including upcoming Progressive Dinner) – Christine, who is in charge, is out of town; but Sue M. led a discussion of an update on the the event, planned Sept. 26.
·      Santiago Park – Béa reported the city wants to place a community garden in the park. Neighbors complained about an increase in homeless people in the park.

12. Next meeting: Oct. 7. Topic/speaker suggestion: Sue said she’d like someone from community preservation to speak. Sue will try to find someone from the city to speak on this issue.
13. Announcements/other:
– Teresa Mercado-Cota, an assistant dean from Santa Ana College, spoke about the centennial celebration Sept. 19. Disney will bring their “imagination playground” to the event. Food trucks, wine and beer, vintage cars, and more will be available. Parking will be free. The event will end with a huge fireworks show.
14. Concerns about loud parties on Virginia – Dolores is developing a flyer to address the issue and get neighbors involved with quieting the issue.
